Just Move Protein Review | Tons of Flavors, Lack of Taste
Been a minute LF family, but JB is back and looking at an interesting product, one with lots of variety. In this Just Move Protein review, I will have a look to one of the most interesting protein powders in the market.
Just Move Protein is a plant-based protein powder that draws its flavor inspirations from some of your favorite holiday desserts such as apple pie, banana pudding, lemon pound cake and others.
Their shakes contain no more than 125 calories per single scoop serving, and are free of soy, dairy, nuts, gluten and nuts. In addition, they contain 20g of protein, 4g of fat, and 5g of carbs or less.
Listen….those are some bold claims regarding how good they taste, and I’m about find out if that is all good, or all talk.

Opinion
Hadn’t heard of this product until someone I know brought it to my attention — Thanks Dips! Once I saw all the flavors offered, and how they were selling good game on how good they taste, I was surely interested.
Before anything, I want to applaud the company for having the courage to try different flavors of shakes, and not sticking to the same boring ass chocolate and vanilla. Even when those are good versions, still gets super old.
Rather see a swing and a miss, over a not swinging at all.
And the owner certainly has alot of confidence, and even more personality.
The Hits
1. Awesome flavor variety. Shouts to Just Move for offering something different
2. Proper sample pack. A pet peeve of mine. They give you a pack of each flavor
3. Inexpensive per serving. Only $1.66 per single scoop serving. Not bad if that’s enough for you.
4. Not a ton of ingredients. Simple is best.
The Misses
1. Gritty. Think they went heavy on the pea protein.
2. Blending is key. Does not shake well at all. See above!
3. Not at all filling. Don’t plan on it with one serving and no additions.
4. Very artificial tasting.
5. Nutrition panel not on sample packs.
6. Three-month minimum requirement for subscription orders
Nutritional Breakdown
Just moving (get it lol) to what the nutritional breakdown is. As mentioned above, this is a fully plant-based protein that contains no soy, gluten or lactose. However they do use artificial sweeteners, so if you are looking for a protein powder without any artificial sweeteners is time to move to the next one.

Carbohydrates
Per 125kcal serving:
- Total Carbs: 7g, 3% of DV.
- Net Carbs: 6g, (Total Carbs – Dietary Fiber – Non-digestible Carbs)
- Sugars: 1g, 0% of DV
- Fiber: 1g, 4% of DV.
These figures are based on the sweet potato pie flavor. Which does contain actual sweet potato powder. Other flavors will have figures lower than this.
All flavors of Just Move Protein are very low in carbs making a great choice for low carb diets. The sweetener used is sucralose, which will be a turn-off to some, but is also better than high amounts of sugar.
Also of note, is the low fiber content, of only 1g. Fiber is an often overlooked, yet very important part of a healthy diet.
Protein
Per 125kcal serving:
- Total Protein: 20g, 30% of DV
- Source(s): Pea Protein & Brown Rice Protein
Organic pea protein and brown rice protein make up the 20g per serving. Pretty standard fare here, but as I’ll get to in the taste portion, pea protein has a notably chalky mouthfeel.
Pea and rice are often used together in plant-based meal replacements because they offer a complete amino acid profile that way.
Fats
Per 125kcal serving:
- Total Fats: 4g, 5% of DV.
- Saturated Fats: 2g, 10% of DV.
- Omega-3s: ?
On top of being low carb, Just Move is also low in fat, with only 4g. Only having a hand full of ingredients, it appears the little fat it does have is product of coconut milk.
I honestly wish there was more to make the drink a bit smoother/creamier.
Micronutrients
Just Move Protein contains just 8 vitamins and minerals, with some being barely there, and others vastly over quantified. For example, there is only 1% of your daily amount of potassium, but 294% of your daily amount of vitamin B6.
This is pretty standard for protein powders, but if you are looking for something that has more micronutrients, look at Huel Complete Protein.
Allergens
Just Move is allergen free with no dairy, gluten, nuts, peanuts or soy.
Green Tea Extract
One interesting thing that caught my attention was the inclusion of green tea extract. It’s included in each flavor. It’s listed as Camellia sinensis, which refers specifically to green tea leaf.
What is extracted is known as Epigallocatechin gallate (don’t try to pronounce it) or ECGG, a unique plant compound thought to reduce inflammation, aid weight loss, and help prevent heart and brain disease.
Other benefits include:
- Protecting your cells from damage and preventing disease
- Reducing blood pressure and cholesterol
- Anti-cancer properties
Taste Test
I haven’t been this ready for a taste test in a long time! They have written some big checks, that we are about to see if they can cash!
Mama’s Sweet Potato Pie
I had to start with that sweet potato pie, a classic around the holidays. Mixing with milk, I noticed that it was very gritty, sandy almost. The flavor was decent, not too sweet, and I got hints of the sweet potato flavor, but all in all…kind of a letdown 😞
Banana Pudding
A likeable dessert, but not one of my favorites growing up. Hoping for redemption after sweet potato pie limped out of the gate. This was actually worse! If you like that artificial, banana candy kind of flavor, then maybe you’ll like it. It’s not for me. Current record = 0-2!
Apple Pie Slice
At this point I’m rolling my eyes, but yet…I persisted. Turns out this one was better than the others. It did taste like apple pie. Cheap ass off the shelf pie, but apple pie nonetheless. I could nitpick, but I’ll just take the win.
Blueberry Muffin
Check out that cool work pic! Blueberry muffin was also decent. Very much like apple pie in the sense that it tasted like one my favorite pop-tarts. I think I just really don’t like artificial banana flavor, and can deal with others.
Lemon Pound Cake
First time blending, and it makes ALL the difference.
It’s pretty good. Lemon can be a tough flavor to emulate, and they seemed to have nailed it. And it actually tastes like lemon poundcake!
Buttercream Cupcake
My ugly mug aside, I was super worried this is going to taste like the frosting that is on grocery store birthday cakes.
It’s actually vanilla flavored, and is sweeter than the others, it’s not bad. I could have it again, I guess.
Chocolate Cake
Sorry, text backgrounds seem to not support brown lol.
Anyway, this is only of average taste too. Most notable part is that it’s not very chocolatey. Much less like chocolate cake, and more like grade school chocolate milk.
Taste Conclusion
They have a very chalky and granular texture that you cannot shake away and MUST be blended. When blended, I wouldn’t call it “smooth and creamy” as the CEO does, but it does even out quite a bit, and makes it much more palatable.
The taste of all of them, outside of sweet potato were very artificial, but overall not terrible. The fruit flavored ones, outside of my bias against banana, were decent. Nothing was OMG good, which is what I was hoping for.
About Just Move Supplements
Together since junior high, Keaira LaShae and Kevin “KP” Price are a husband and wife duo that has worked together, side by side to build a DANCE FITNESS PHENOMENON from the ground up!
With much success in the fitness industry, Keaira and KP were constantly approached by many different protein/ supplement brands, especially vegan, in which they never quite liked the taste. The shakes were always gritty and lacked flavor, so they decided to create a premium vegan supplement line that’s undeniably delicious! After years of trying multiple vegan protein shakes, they’ve formulated the perfect blend of high-quality plant-based ingredients proving that non-dairy protein shakes can be a tasty treat without the guilt.

Just Move Protein Amazon Reviews
Customers on Amazon are big fans of the taste and high-protein content and have left largely glowing reviews.
A few who did not like the product cite the texture and not like the flavor.
I purchased these as meal replacements. I’m pleased these are low sugar, high protein, and delicious! All the flavors were good. But the apple pie and lemon pound cake by far were the best. About to buy the big bags right now.
5-stars, Tamyra Wormack
The protein shakes are smooth, and it literally tastes like a dessert. My favorite is Apple pie, Sweet Potato Pie, and Buttercream Cupcake. I got my mom to try it too and she also like the shakes. Her favorite is Lemon Pound Cake. I am looking forward to purchasing the big bag in the future.
5-stars, Patricia P.
Filled me up but has a chalky taste.
3-stars, Linda Brown
Not worth the hype, gritty and flavor not as expected. Glad I opted for sample instead of actual size bottle.

KOS was favorably reviewed and also is in the same price range as Just Move. I’d argue that both could use a texture improvement, Just Move does have it beat out in taste. However, there’s a catch. KOS is certified organic and does not use artificial sweeteners or flavors. So its vanilla and chocolate, actually contain vanilla and cocoa.
Chike is a recently reviewed, coffee based, protein beverage with similar macros. It has both beat in the texture department, with a mild shake up, produces a velvet like texture. Also it is the tastiest of the bunch and will keep you coming back for more, provided you are ok with its caffeine content.
While these are viable options among many, I’d personally steer you in the direction of more complete and filling products that also come in at the sub $2 per serving range.
Basically Food BOOST, is an amazing product, that comes in at only $1.25 per serving. It also comes with all of your micros, and just with a cup of whole milk, will keep you full for hours.
Another excellent choice comes to mind in Huel Essentials. At only $1.49 per meal, you get a complete meal, no artificial ingredients, and also super filling.

Verdict – Just Move Protein Review, A Gimmick
Look, I get it. We want something different. Something that reminds us of grandma.
I applaud them for innovation, and trying to take a differing flavor approach than most companies do. But flavor aside, there are holes to fill.
First, it’s not very filling and if you look to make it more filling, perhaps by doubling the serving size, then you’re now at over $3 per serving. What does that mean? Well, those 30 servings are now 15, so plan to order more, and more often. Also, it’s now in the same ballpark as much better products on the market like HLTH Code.
Funny and random, at check out, they offer an option to leave a tip. A tip!? All different parties are responsible for formulation, manufacturing, packaging and distribution. Hell, even their subscriptions are handled by a third party.
My tip….spend your money elsewhere on something better.
Bottom Line: They might be on the right track, but are on the wrong train. If you are thinking of buying Just Move…..just move along.
